Petalas by Jorge Zalszupin
[sold]
The Petalas coffee table was designed by Jorge Zalszupin in 1959 and manufactured in his own company L’Atelier. The table draws inspiration from the art of origami, showcasing an octagonal design reminiscent of folded paper structures. Remarkably, this Brazilian mid-century classic ingeniously repurposes leftover components from another Zalszupin creation, the Andorinha table, to craft its distinctive form. The table's allure lies in its minimalist yet striking appearance, with gracefully curved wood defining its aesthetic.
This piece was produced by L’Atelier in the 1970s. It is composed of 8 “petalas” of layered jacaranda on a round metal structure.
